I also wonder, in winter she must have been cold and in summer it must have been really really hot in that bathroom.

OK, out of a morbid curiosity I went and read the actual news coverage of this.

The woman in question is severely Agoraphobic. She was in the apartment for the 2 years, mostly the bathroom. She had been sitting on the toilet about a month (bad enough) but not the entire 2 years. Her skin hadn't grown into the seat. She did have severe sores which were sticking to it and they did have to take it to the hospital to have it removed.

She's very mentally disturbed obviously. He only called the police because she was "groggy" and not responding properly. Turns out, she had infections from the sores etc that made her very ill and have harmed her nerves muscles and tissue to the point she may be in a wheelchair because of it. Her boyfriend had been "taking care" of her and may be charged with a crime over this.

Twisted yes. Funny no. This "article" stretched the truth to say the least.

Now it sounds more realistic and believable.

Because obviously I don't think it's physically possible to go without at least showering and etc for 2 years, her getting sick from this whole thing was inevitable though.

Yay! Finally. Someone on this forum who can show compassion. I was beginning to believe you didn't exist.

I mentioned the lack of important information in the OP and where to find it in post #10 in this thread, and I also linked to the wikipedia article on agoraphobia in post #18.

Additionally in post #10, I also wrote my feelings about the boyfriend's part in this whole thing:

What's saddest is her boyfriend knew she had a phobia (stemming from childhood abuse) that was escalating and was too insecure to get her help. He must have been terribly stepped on in his youth as well to have so little self-esteem.

But people here just don't read past the first few posts do they.

Has anyone thought of the situation of 2 mildly retarted people living together. Because if they both were then he might not of know enough to get her the help she needed. She was obviously in need of professional brain trqaining.

I dont think he is going to get charged with anything. Who knows why he didnt call sooner, although people love to jump to a conclusion and blame someone. Not pointing the finger at anyone.
